Made In China, the New Warning Label?

At the BBC News, there is a list of known Chinese product that have caused problems and, the worst, deaths:

Chinese Product Scares:
Pet food – tainted with chemical melamine
Toothpaste – tainted with chemical diethylene glycol and bacteria
Farmed fish – traces of banned drugs and pesticides found
Tyres – fault may cause blow-outs
Toys – contain lead or pose choking hazard
Children’s jewellery – contains lead
Ceramic heaters – pose fire safety risk

As far as I know, these items are the tip of the iceberg which made public in the western world.   However, in Asia and other part of the world, China products, especially food products, have long been well-known for unsafe, counterfeited items and harmful chemical contaminated items including Chinese herbs with dangerous heavy metals and counterfeited drugs, which have caused many unreported deaths and lasting harms among children in developing countries.   Many of those incidents are not yet to make public or less known to the public, so it won’t be a surprise if more and more unsafe items surface later on.   I just hope all of you to be careful purchasing Chinese goods.   I, certainly, don’t mean to boycott all Chinese goods, but be cautious when you buy Chinese food, Chinese drugs, any Chinese products that can be absorbed into your body, and Chinese made tires and children toys.  Simply, ask a Chinese, and you will learn that many food products even Chinese dare not to eat them (so they export oversea).

I think Chinese government should do everything it can to make sure its goods/products are safe before the print of "Made in China" becomes THE warning label.

Btw, better be safe than …(you know)

As a Chinese I only can say sorry and I hope Chinese government can do better.
your blog remind me of a saying "Bad news travels fast."
At the same time,I feel ashamed for those counterfeiters.
