The Best Seating Position

I think a lot of people including me have the similar situation when we are young, we have been told to sit straight up either by our parents or our teachers or both; and if we sit in the position of sliding or lending on the chair, it is considered to be lazy (or other names that have similar applications).  But now, a study has suggested that sitting up straight is not the best sitting position contrary to the conventional wisdom.

Scottish and Canadian researchers used a new form of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to show it places an unnecessary strain on your back. They told the Radiological Society of North America that the best position in which to sit at your desk is leaning slightly back, at about 135 degrees. Experts said sitting was known to contribute to lower back pain. Source: BBC News

I have to say that no wonder I always have the tendency to slide (if not lying on my back) whenever I have been sitting too long.  Therefore, for all you parents and teachers, don’t ask children or your students to sit up straight because now you know it is bad for their backs.
